The Strategic Regional Policy
Plan criticizes more recent forms and patterns
of development for being too homogeneous and disconnected
to support more efficient and sustainable patterns
of development. The Strategic Regional Policy
Plan illustrates how to mix densities, choose
architectural styles and building types, and describes
lifestyle choices that respond to current market
forces yet will lead to less expensive and more
sustainable built environments. The Strategic
Regional Policy Plan illustrates how to correct
past mistakes and how to respect current market
forces that would lead to a more sustainable and
less expensive form of development. The Strategic
Regional Policy Plan addresses the nature
of sprawl and sprawl's side effects and protects
the countryside and the Region's natural infrastructure
while providing for a large growth potential.
The Strategic Regional Policy Plan does
not recommend stopping growth, but the Region
must do a better job of directing and instructing
the inevitable growth.
